The heat is on this week and the plants are loving it. So am I, except that I worry about not having enough rain. Thanks to the sunshine I planted carrots and beets this week in hopes of having them ready for the harvest market. Also, an overdue and huge thank you to thee Rotary Club who came out in full force last November to work on the Mediterranean Garden. Winter Pruning and Planting Deciduous Fruit Trees Workshop Sat., January 17th - 1:00PM -3:00PM Learn from Master Gardener Al Derrick about how to plant and winter prune deciduous fruit trees. Bring gloves and pruners for hands-on practice. Workshop sponsored by the Sonoma Master Gardeners and held at Sonoma Garden Park. Rose Care, Selection, and Pruning Workshop Sat., February 7th, 10:30 am Master Gardener Wylie Hartman with lecture on how to care, select and prune roses. Workshop sponsored by the Sonoma Master Gardeners and held at Sonoma Valley Regional Library, 755 W. Napa Street. Classes are free. Peanut Noodles with Raw Veggies* Ingredients 1 pound cooked soba noodles 1 carrot shredded 1 cup shredded savoy cabbage 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter 1/4 cup soy sauce 1 tablespoon Asian sesame oil 1 clove chopped garlic 2-3 tbsps boiling water 1/4 cup chopped scallions Preparation Whisk together peanut butter, soy sauce, sesame oil, chile paste, garlic, and boiling water until smooth. Toss noodles with peanut sauce over noodles and then add carrot, cabbage, and scallions. Also delicious with cucumbers, peppers, or zucchini. Fruit, veggies, pasta, coffee grounds, bread, weeds, tea bags, leaves, grass clippings and lots more. Check this link for more information.
