Rock Camp: Not Just for Kids

There are three things you gotta do: table like you mean it for GR!C, recruit mature rockers for Mays Ladies Rock Camp, and get into the CHIRP Record Fair for free. The 8th annual CHIRP event will have an amazing selection of vinyl, CDs, posters, zines, artwork, crafts, and live music, so dont miss out!

Rock’n'Roller Skate

Saturday, April 17
4:30-6:30pm

615 S. Consumers Ave., Palatine, IL
$8 admission 
Bring your own skates, or rent a pair for $3

This event is all ages, so get the whole family on skates! It’ll be a great day for campers to reunite, meet new friends, and hang out with volunteers, counselors, staff, and board members. Mom, let's see if you still got it! Derby girls, time to show off your skills. Whatever the reason, we hope you'll roll out to support this worthy cause!

 

All proceeds from the Rock’n’Roller Skate event will fund scholarships for Girls Rock! upcoming summer camps.

Join us in supporting GR!C campers as they perform live original and cover songs! Girls Rock! Chicago presents under-18 music performances at Whole Foods on the last Wednesday of every month.

Calling All ‘Zine-sters!

Girls Rock! Chicago is looking for ‘zine enthusiasts, artists, writers, and rockers to help create our new curriculum ‘zines! These ‘zines will be take-home references for drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, DJing, workshops, and band practice to help our campers keep rocking after camp.

BRAND NEW: DJ Instruction at 2010 Girls Camps!

Girls Rock! Chicago is now offering a DJ track at our summer camp for 8-16 year old girls. Learn how to mix songs, create mash-ups, put together a set, and more. Local professional DJs will also offer afternoon workshops on topics ranging from DJing with a live band to mastering the scratch. Camp week will culminate with an exciting evening of live sets and remixes of Girls Rock! Chicago’s original songs.

Summer Interns 

Girls Rock! Chicago is excited to announce summer internship opportunities. We bet you or someone you know is interested in learning more about running a non-profit, fundraising, outreach, or working with kids while helping make 2010 GR!C’s best year yet. Send us your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you want to work at GR!C and what you can bring to the organization.

 

We can arrange for course credit with your school. Non-students are also welcome to apply. Send applications and questions to volunteer@girlsrockchicago.org

 
A Room of Our Own! Office and Gear Donations
We have been in our very own office for a couple months now and are finding work outside the coffeehouse circuit so much easier. Help make it even better by donating:
·  Office supplies of all kinds, stamps, envelopes, paper, etc.
·  Desk lamps and task lighting 
·  Boom box, speakers, or other small stereo equipment
·  Working laptop and peripherals (scanner, mouse, keyboard, external hard drive, etc.) 
·  Cordless telephones 
·  File cabinets

Remember, all your donations are tax-deductible.
