Rock n Bowl Party draws over 400
TABA Rock 'n' Bowl PartyAs we’ve done for more than a decade, Freeman kicked off the new school year with a TABA-hosted party at world famous Rock ’n’ Bowl to welcome our graduate classes to New Orleans and Tulane. This year’s party, which took place on Aug. 24, drew more than 400 students and alums, making it our biggest Rock ’n’ Bowl event in history. To see photos from the party, visit the Freeman School’s Flickr page.

How much is a tweet worth? Try $18K
Fats Domino's pianoIf you’ve ever wondered about the true value of social media, a class of Freeman School students has an answer for you: $18,000. That’s how much a Twitter message — or, if you prefer, a tweet — the students posted on behalf of the Louisiana Museum Foundation generated for the foundation’s efforts to repair and restore music legend Fats Domino’s white Steinway piano, which was nearly destroyed by floodwaters in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

    Hogg highlighted in Businessweek
Mike HoggThe Freeman School’s Michael Hogg, a professor of practice who teaches undergraduate legal studies in business courses, was highlighted in Bloomberg Businessweek in August as part of its “Favorite Professors” series. Hogg, who also serves as associate dean for undergraduate programs at the Freeman School and vice president for student affairs at Tulane, earned praise in the magazine’s survey of students for an unorthodox teaching style that employs some creative techniques to help students understand how the subject matter applies in the real world.     Freeman welcomes new faculty members
Jasmijn BolThe Freeman School has added six new tenured and tenure-track professors to its faculty for 2012-13. Of the six appointments, three are for newly created positions, representing the first phase of an ambitious three-year faculty hiring plan initiated last year that will increase the size of the Freeman School’s research-active faculty by almost 40 percent. “Our faculty expansion plan is off to an auspicious start with the hiring of this outstanding group of scholars,” said Freeman School Dean Ira Solomon. “Enhancing the academic reputation of the Freeman School is an essential part of our strategic plan, and these exceptional young teachers and researchers will contribute greatly to that effort.”
