During the 2007-2008 school year, CIS Kansas provided services to 25,576 students at 75 schools for only $123 per student.
Better yet, 100% of potential dropouts stayed in school. See more results here.

| CIS helps America's Dropout Crisis
|
|
The high cost of dropping out is on the November cover of the Lawrencian, a newspaper published by Free Planet Press in Lawrence. The article features the misunderstanding of the dropout crisis, how dropouts affect our economy, and what Communities In Schools does to keep kids in school. Some highlights include:
- The 10,000 students that dropped out of Kansas high schools in 2008 will lead to $2.6 billion of lost lifetime earnings.
- Kansas’ economy would see a combination of savings and revenue of more
than $62 million in reduced crime spending and increased earnings each
year if the male high school graduation rate increased by just 5
percent.
- “The cost of inaction is very high,” said Dan Cardinali, president of
Communities In Schools. “If we fail to address the
dropout epidemic and achievement gaps, the consequences will affect not
only individual students, but also our nation's economic prosperity and
national security interests.”
