Studying for the EDAC Exam
Tips from Accredited Individuals
The
material in the study guides may seem overwhelming. Remember, the
Study Guides contextualize the EBD process and were written to serve as
a resourceful reference manual beyond this exam. This exam is not about
rote memorization–it's about knowing how to apply the EBD process.
- Understand the exam structure and terminology. Know how to read exam questions and what types of questions will be on the exam.

Hint: “Break the questions apart. Missing one word changes the answer.”
- Start with the basic structure and go from there. The Detailed Content Outline (DCO) covers every topic on the exam. Know how each topic relates to your work and how you can incorporate it. Use the DOC along side the Study Guides to understand what is most important to study.
Hint: “Don’t memorize facts and acronyms, know the EBD steps well.”
- Know the context. Read
up on research studies and reports to get context and examples of the
process. Look up literature reviews, organizations or the industry
standards mentioned in the Guides.

Hint: "Collaborate with your colleagues to draw from their experiences."
Most accredited individuals say that their personal experience helped them the most. Use a project you are working on now and see how you can apply the EBD steps.
Thanks and talk to you next Thursday.
