Invest in Yourself:
Ways to Make SIIC Affordable
SIIC Installment Plan (SIP)
Most everyone today, individuals and organizations alike, have cash resources that are somewhat restricted. For this reason ICI is offering credit terms for 2009 SIIC fees. Upon approval, interested participants can borrow up to 60% of the cost of any workshop or seminar, at zero interest. These credit accounts will be payable in six equal monthly installments beginning August 2009 and continuing forward through January 2010. For more information about ICI credit arrangements, please contact Steven Dowd or download and submit the application.
We invite you to "take a SIP."
Take SIIC for Academic Credit
Another way to invest in yourself is to take SIIC for academic credit, which is offered in a cooperative arrangement between the Institute and Portland State University at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Participants in degree programs are often able to use these credits as part of their course of study at their own university. For further details, please call us at 503-297-4622, or consult our website.
Referral Bonus
Our best promotion comes from word of mouth, in what used to be called "conversations," and what is now called "viral marketing." What we hope you will do is talk to a colleague or friend in whatever way works for you, and suggest a summer session at SIIC as an ideal opportunity. This is the year when support counts the most. Only you can know who may have funds left in this tough economy to use for professional and personal development.
In return, if you send us one new participant, you will be our guest
for a Sample of SIIC workshop of your choice on Saturday, July 18. And you will also receive our warmest gratitude!

The Global Competencies Inventory
and The Intercultural Effectiveness Scale
The Intercultural Communication Institute is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Kozai Group, Inc., creators of both the Global Competencies Inventory (GCI) and the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES).
The GCI measures personality characteristics associated with working effectively across cultures in an organizational environment, and is predictive of higher levels of performance in international assignments, increased intercultural skills, and greater job satisfaction. The GCI is available online and in hard copy. Seminars to prepare professionals to use the GCI will be introduced in 2009, taught by Kozai faculty and administered by the Intercultural Communication Institute.
The IES is a streamlined educational version of the corporate GCI, and has been designed specifically to assess students’ personality characteristics that have been associated with effective behavior in intercultural contexts. The IES is available online and in hard copy. Teaching aids and seminars are available for the IES, although purchase of the IES does not require certification.
For details about the GCI, GCI qualifying seminars, the IES, or Kozai, please contact the Intercultural Communication Institute or visit www.kozaigroup.com
