Lead Pastor - Transition Update

Elder Board Chairman, Greg Epp, and Pastor Gary explained on Sunday that the process of transitioning to a new Lead Pastor is underway. This period of change involves a number of steps. Interim Sunday morning teaching will be provided by an Interim Pastor and by the church’s pastors. The Board of Elders are currently contacting potential Interim Pastors. It is hoped that this individual will be in place sometime in March.
A Lead Pastor Search Committee will be formalized very soon
Plans call for an Interim Pastor to begin teaching in March
The Interim Pastor would be before the congregation roughly three of four Sundays a month and contracted in three month intervals. This individual would not be considered as a Lead Pastor candidate.

Lead Pastor Transition Update
(Continued) This individual would not be considered as a Lead Pastor
candidate.
The Lead Pastor Search process begins with the appointment of a Search Committee (as described in the Bylaws of the Church). Candidates for this team have been identified and are presently being asked to serve by the Elders. The Search Committee will be an eight member team with intentional representation by a variety of ages, ministry experiences, both genders, and Elders. The Board of Elders, with input from the Pastors and Search Commitee, will craft a profile and job description of the next Lead Pastor.
A Lead Pastor Search for this sized church often takes time, typically 9 - 12 months
The Committee will begin the process of seeking potential candidates, reviewing the resumes, and narrowing down the pool. Eventually, they will listen to sermons, contact references, and complete extended phone and personal interviews. The Search Committee will recommend one candidate to the Board of Elders. The Elder Board will then present the candidate before the official church membership for a vote following a candidating weekend.
Critical to this entire process is the reliance of the church family on prayer. Multiple opportunities for church wide involvement at prayer events and personal committment’s to prayer will be offered. It is very likely that the church will be without a Lead Pastor for at least 9-12 months, as a search for this sized church often takes time. (Return to top)
