Lagoon News e-Update for October 14, 2009
Dear Geoffrey,
Mattress Fun, Trail Repair, and Castor Bean Removal Planned
Monthly Work Party on Saturday, October 17
What's the most fun you can have involving a mattress? Try fishing a really soggy one out of the Lagoon at high tide! It's a blast! This errant white foam mattress was first spotted in the channel under I-5 in late September. Today we find it at the south-east corner of the west basin, hung up on some salicornia. Before it can become part of a nest or den, we will pull it up, ring it out, and haul it off. Now that's what I call a good time!
The photo features a wonderful volunteer at September's work party, removing rotted fence posts at the Conservancy's Ford Habitat Preserve. Click for all the pictures!
Other projects in store for us include cutting trail, removing invasive castor bean and mustard plant, and dispensing with an exotic Brazilian pepper tree.
To join the festivities, please send email to workparties@sanelijo.org to register and receive an auto-reply back with all the details of time, place and how to prepare. We'll be done by 11:00 am. Trail snacks are provided by our good friends at Adventure16. Questions? Contact Geoffrey
