What do 12,803 cigarette butts, 1208 food wrappers, and a 10-dollar bill have in common?

Answer: They were all collected by 130 volunteers in two hours at Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 19!  More than 400 pounds of trash were collected along one mile of Manchester Avenue, and a mile of PCH along Restaurant Row.  All were treated to coffee, donuts and great hospitality by the folks at MiraCosta College, San Elijo Campus.  Many thanks to Dean Sally Foster!  And thank you to the folks who turned out for this extraordinary event.

Conservancy Supporters flocked to the 'Birds of a Feather Gala' on September 26!
  Birds of A Feather
Over 300 supporters gathered at Clear Spring Farm in Rancho Santa Fe to honor two distinguished volunteers, and to support the Conservancy's extraordinary Education Program!  Master of Ceremonies Loren Nancarrow recognized Barbara Moore for the Lifetime Achievement Award for her decades of commitment to natural history and education.  Bob Chaddock received the Docent of the Year award for more than 8 years of service as a docent.  Beautiful music by the Endangered Speciez Project created a festive, giving mood as auctioneer Richard Houk tempted the crowd with a plethora of enticing silent and live auction items.

All in attendance labelled this the best Conservancy gala ever!

See what all the fuss was about here.
