Dear Friend of the San Elijo Lagoon,
The new San Elijo Nature Center is now open
Nearly 2,000 visitors joined in the celebration for the Grand Opening of the state-of-the-art new nature center at the Lagoon. The center is now open from 9 am - 5 pm, seven days a week. Parking and admission are free. Attractions include museum-quality interactive exhibits, 'green' design features, and access to a loop trail overlooking the Reserve. Conservancy docents offer guided walks every Saturday, starting at 10 am at the nature center.

Recent Sightings at the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve
The Reserve is awakening from the winter in spectacular colors as White Ceanothus, Wild Cucumber, Lemonade Berry, Mule Fat, and Deerweed are all blooming. A flock of about 20 White Pelicans has been frequenting the West Basin over the last couple of weeks, and more than 40 different bird species were spotted on the Conservancy's Second Saturday walk in February.
