June Restoration Event to Focus on Fence Mending, Saturday June 19, 9 am - 11 am
Good fences make good neighbors... that's according to the shorebirds at the Rios Trail peninsula view point anyway! Recent damage to the fence has put the wetland habitat at risk of human visitors wandering off-trail. We'll mend the fence and restore our good relations with our waterfowl friends. This will be a fun project for 20 volunteers.
Please visit the registration form on our web site to sign up. As always, snacks are provided by our good friends at Adventure16 Outdoor and Travel Outfitters. Bring a reusable bottle for water, which will be provided.
Our volunteer Watershed Steward Team Leader this month will be: Paul Worthington.
See you there!

Conservancy Shines at Encinitas Environment Day
The Conservancy booth at Encinitas Environment Day was a big hit. Passers-by enjoyed spotting their homes on the large aerial photo of the lagoon, while learning about the recreational and educational opportunities provided by the lagoon. Conservancy members placed a pin next to their name on the large membership roster. Many thanks to the board members and other volunteers who gave their time to staff the booth and tell folks about the Conservancy's great programs. Pictured here, Director Sally Foster talks to a visitor about the Conservancy programs.

Celebrating Our Trails on National Trails Day, June 5
An enthusiastic group of hikers celebrated National Trails Day on June 5 with a beautiful hike along the La Orilla and Rios trails. Docent and Board member Elizabeth Venrick, PhD, captivated us with her engaging style as she interpreted the flora and fauna we encountered along the way. Thank you Elizabeth!
