Dear Karen and Rick, We hope this holiday season finds everyone happy, healthy, and looking forward to a great new year! From the Opening Night Arts Group family to yours, we wish you a peaceful and happy holiday season.
With that in mind, the board of directors has been busy planning a new season and making preparations for our upcoming shows.

ANNIE JR. Initial auditions for the summer youth program took place December 8th and 9th at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights. Seeing the level of talent that has auditioned, we are looking forward to a spectacular production and a fun summer of learning and friendship for the students. Due to the snow and ice storm that hit the second night of auditions, which kept quite a few people from being able to attend, and the scheduling conflicts of some of our members, we have added an audition on January 13th from 5-8 p.m at Trinity Christian College. Auditions are for those children currently in the 4th through 8th grades. You can read more about it and register to audition on our website at www.openingnightartsgroup.org

Variety Show Rehearsals have begun for “An Evening of Variety” to be performed January 23rd and 24th, 2009, at Trinity Christian College’s Marge Kallemeyn Theatre. The show is going to be so much fun and entertaining that I hope everyone has a chance to come see it. We have amazing adult and teen talent taking part in the show, and it promises to be unique and very professionally done…something for everyone, and safe to bring your kids to! Tickets are available at www.openingnightartsgroup.org |

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT As mentioned in past newsletters, the rights are secured, the facility is secured, and we are busy in the planning stages. We have decided on a costume plot and are currently locking in rehearsal facilities. Cassie Dawe has accepted a position as choreographer, and we are very excited to have such a talented person heading up the dancing. Lisa Weinstein has accepted assistant director, and I look forward to working with her.

Next Season The board recently met to vote on next season’s productions. Currently we are ready to announce plans for a theatrical production of “Arsenic and Old Lace” to take place early October 2009. This will be our first non-musical production. We will be announcing more details as they are confirmed, and we will be announcing further 2009-2010 productions as we get closer.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! Our first production is coming up fast! We are looking for helpers for both nights of the Variety Show to help with tickets, concessions, membership table, collecting goods for Operation Support Our Troops and more. Please contact Karen Grant to volunteer if you are not a part of the ensemble and are willing to help out. This is our “warm-up” for “Joseph” and “Annie” coming up this summer! We need membership involvement to help make this show a success, raise items for Operation Support our Troops, and enable us to raise the funds necessary for our next season. Please e-mail Karen Grant ( kgrant@openingnightartsgroup.org ) to volunteer, or call ONAG at 708-570-1630. |
Happy Holidays!
