Working For A Charity’s autumn course: Early booking discount now available

ImageBook on to Working For A Charity’s Foundation Course before the end of August and receive £90 off the course cost.

The course is tailor-made to encourage people to consider a job in the charity world, and provides a bridge to help them gain paid employment with a voluntary sector organisation.

The course is run over seven seminars and also includes a voluntary work placement in a host charity.

Latest Developments at Skills – Third Sector

ImageSkills – Third Sector is the new independent skills body for the third sector, which is due to launch in September.

They are currently recruiting for two Project Managers – read more about the vacancies here.

The learning and skills work currently undertaken by NCVO Workforce Development, which is presently available at www.ukworkforcehub.org.uk/learningandskills, will be transferred to the new Skills – Third Sector website in September.

The content available at www.ukworkforcehub.org.uk/hr will move to the new NCVO website when it launches in September. More information about the new NCVO site is available below.

NCVO Workforce Development is responsible for commissioning the new website for Skills – Third Sector, and is working closely with them to ensure the transition is a smooth one.

Free Employment Practice Network event: Last places available

ImageWorkforce Development’s Employment Practice Network is running a free event on Discipline & Dismissal – how to do it well in the new era.

The event is being held on Monday 12 October 2009 from 2-5pm at NCVO in London and will discuss the new Acas code, which came into place in April 2009.

Numbers are strictly limited and priority is given to voluntary and community organisations. To reserve a free place, please email your name, job title and organisation to Emma Allford.

NCVO’s online communities: Join the discussion!

ImageNCVO are developing a new website, which will enable third sector organisations to easily share knowledge and learning with other members of the 7,000-strong NCVO community.

By the end of September 2009, the online communities will be available on the website - allowing users to share ideas, ask questions, meet people and network.

The Pains and Gains of Collaboration
