How will people hear about you in 2010? Are you connected with them through internet social media, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter? I call that kind of networking "having an I-presence."
I have seen lots of articles about using social media sites to spread word about business. It's a hot topic lately. So why am I writing about it too? I want you to know how it works for me, hoping it can do the same for you.
The most notable quality about these sites - they don't cost a thing to set up and maintain. My Facebook presence has generated direct business. I also hear from prospects through the site. I am "friends" and "fans" of other business owners. These relationships will undoubtedly lead to referrals and more business. A Facebook fan page takes a few minutes daily to update. You can also choose to buy pay-per-click ads. The jury is still out on the effectiveness of the other sites.
