More than you know: thinking outside the circle
Who gets your newsletter? Maybe you send it by email and track it. Potentially more people see it than you know. Ready for them? Those outside your circle of contacts can read about you.
If your newsletter gets archived or published as a web page, people searching for your key words come across it online. I call them web scouts; they know how to get around. They can forward it, bookmark it, post it on Facebook, click your links or give it 'thumbs up' in Stumble Upon.
People we didn't expect to know about our business sometimes call or email inquiries. When this happens, be sure to ask what words they used in their search, and integrate those into every issue.
Newsletters are valuable beyond measure. Expect unplanned readers. However your newsletter reaches people, just having it increases visibility, and makes it worth thinking outside the circle.
