You know that the government is providing stimulus money through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Recipients are businesses and nonprofits that prove a need with thorough, persuasive proposals.

Where is the money?

The Washington Post reported, "34 percent of the $39 billion in direct federal contracts awarded in 2009 went to small businesses, 7.6 percent of them women-owned, 3.5 percent Hispanic-owned and 2.5 percent African-American owned," and that about 80% was distributed through state and local governments.
