![]() Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 7pm – 9pm In the second lecture in The Fall Speaker Series, join us as we welcome intellectual property lawyers Thomas A. Crowell, Esq. and Sheafe B. Walker, Esq. as they discuss copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, and other legal issues pertaining to graphic artists. The plot unfolds by way of a comic book spread for “The Adventures of Maggot Man,” an intentionally problem-ridden comic written by Mr. Crowell and illustrated by Allan Norico and created for this year’s NY Comic Con legal seminar. Mr. Crowell and Mr. Walker will take opposing views as they pull back the curtain to show you how lawyers debate the issues of copyright and trademark infringement, fair use, and parody. Illustrator Allan Norico will shed some light on how to work with a lawyer in ensuring that your artwork raises as few legal issues as possible. The Secrets of Media Stardom were revealed on Oct. 20th |

New York, New York: Global Media Star, Alan Robins shared his secrets with us on Oct 20th, with examples from his storied career as a painter, Art Director, game designer , Graphic design professor to global media star. It all started when he studied painting at the Brooklyn Museum School where on the recommendation of one of his teachers he would walk over to the Brooklyn Public Library and study the hardcover edition of Joseph Alber's, The Interaction of Color. Turning the pages of this important book led to his preliminary color studies in preparation to the final oil paintings the color studies from that period are available on his website. After studying painting and since he was the one who knew about art he was the obvious choice to become an Art Director at a newly formed ad agency, where he learned his craft on the job. After he tired of designing brochures for clients he developed games and puzzles that eventually landed him a teaching job at Kean College where he teaches graphic design today. His claim on media stardom comes from his humorous YouTube videos that he created and receive over millions of hits. |

Liza will also introduce her new book When Do They Serve The Wine?, which explores the evolution of women through their lives and crises (physical, emotional, sartorial): the awkward teen years; the crisis of becoming a quarter-lifer; the unmistakable realization that if you're wearing a certain outfit in your forties, you might be a cougar. With her trademark wry, self-deprecating wit, and 140 eye-catching cartoons, Liza celebrates the fact that laugh lines do come with age—and so does wisdom. After the panel discussion a book signing and cocktail reception will follow. MoCCA Education Programs Public Library Business Development
