We Need Your Help to Make Camp Achieve the Best Year Yet!
Camp Achieve is an overnight camp specially designed to meet the needs of children and youth with a primary diagnosis of epilepsy/seizure disorder. Camp Achieve provides a unique opportunity for campers to meet others who are living with the same challenges.
Camp activities are designed to increase self esteem, independence, enhance personal growth, build friendships, and create unforgettable memories. A fun, secure, safe, and healthy environment is ensured by our EFEPA staff, Camp Green Lane counselors, medical professionals, and trained volunteers.
Camp is not possible without the generous support of our community. A donation to Camp Achieve will help underwrite camp and will fund scholarships to give more children the opportunity to participate in this amazing opportunity.
Due to the economic situation, we have campers in extreme need of scholarships. It costs the EFEPA over $500 per camper however we subsidize the amount each camper pays to $250. If you are interested in sponsoring a camper, you will receive the satisfaction of knowing that your gift will impact a child's life forever.
You can donate to Camp Achieve by clicking here or sending a check to:
Epilepsy Foundation Eastern PA, 919 Walnut Street, Suite 700, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Awareness and Advocacy
21st Annual Charley Roach Golf Invitational. Join the EFEPA on September 15th, 2009 at RiverCrest Golf Club in Pheonixville PA for our annual golf outing to benefit the EFEPA.
The Invitational is a long-standing fundraising event that promises to be an enjoyable day for all. You can bring a friend, organize a foursome, or entertain your clients while supporting a worthy cause. All golfers will receive welcome gifts, use of a golf cart, a buffet lunch, course refreshments, cocktails, and dinner. Fabulous prizes will be offered for a hole-in-one, the longest drive, the straightest drive, and closest to the pin. Golfers will also have the opportunity to bid on wonderful packages in our silent auction.
If you can't join us in person, but would like to have a presence during this special day you can sponsor a hole, place an ad in the Commemorative Program, or donate to the silent auction.
Special guests and spouses are invited to the dinner at this year's Invitational. Learn more at www.golfforepilepsypa.kintera.org or contact Alli at (215) 629-5003 x 105 or amccartin@efepa.org.
Summer Stroll, our five mile non-competitive walk, held on June 20th on Forbidden Drive, was a huge success. It may have been pouring, but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, just some clothes. Even with the rain, we had a larger turnout than recent years, over 500 registrants. To our thrilling surprise, especially with the current economy and lack of corporate sponsors, we netted over $80,000, almost $15,000 more than last year!! We owe all of this success to our constituents, donors, and volunteers. We want to thank everyone who helped make this annual event one that we will never forget.

Update From Epilepsy Foundation of America
A note from Joyce Bender, recently elected Board Chair of the Epilepsy Foundation Of America:
As a woman living with epilepsy, I am so excited to serve in this leadership role; I know I cannot be successful without your support – we are in this together!
On July 26, 2009, we will celebrate the anniversary of one of the greatest pieces of civil rights legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act. At this time, I am reminded that it would not have happened without one key driver – unity. On Capitol Hill and with all of the various disability groups, we had great bi-partisan support.
It is Tony Coelho, a man living with epilepsy, who authored the Americans with Disabilities Act. With the Epilepsy Foundation, Tony led the way to bring back equality for all of us with the ADA Amendments Act signed into law in September of 2008.
This is something for all of us to all talk about. We are celebrating the day of freedom in America for all people with disabilities.
My message for you is to also remember Tony’s emphasis on Family. If we all work together, we can do so much more. You can count on me to be there for all of you!
