Calling all Gardeners! Our 1st Annual Spring Plant Sale/Flavors of the Garden party is Sat. April 25 at the 55th St. Garden.

Enjoy live music courtesy of "The Western Whistle Blowers", delicious drinks from Honest Tea, samples of healthy sauerkraut and kimchee made by PG youth interns, and lots of organic plants like heirloom tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, herbs & many edible perennials lovingly grown from seed in the West Oakland People's Grocery greenhouse.

Sale runs from 11am-4pm. All sales go to benefit the People's Grocery's Urban Agriculture farm and gardens.

The garden is at 1167 - 55th St. (1.5 blocks west of San Pablo)

For kids or the kids-at-heart, we're having a kid-friendly fun(!)draising event Sat. May 9 at Archway School. Come bring your little ones to play in the playground while listening to a live band play tunes. You can taste yummy snacks, we'll have plants for sale, our first art auction (special thanks to Kevin Twomey) and you can check out a great school that supports People's Grocery. Everyone welcome (adults too)!

People’s Grocery is still accepting applications for Spring and Summer unpaid Food Justice and Urban Ag Internships. A two month, 12hr/week commitment is required.

We still have spaces for W. Oakland residents ($12/box - low-income only) and Sponsors ($24/box - non-W. Oakland) to receive a Grub Box of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. Each box has 10-12 different seasonal selections of produce. Pick-ups are weekly on Tuesday afternoon in Oakland. Eat healthy and support People's Grocery's! People’s Grocery is offering a host of hand crafted artisan products: canned vinegar pickles, live kim chi and live garlic kraut made by PG youth staff and farm interns with produce from our certified organic farm in Sunol.

Taste "Food Justice". Good for you and creates green jobs for our West Oakland youth.

People’s Grocery will be having a spring orientation program and potluck for new interns and volunteers Thursday, April 23rd from 6-7:30 at our office at 936 Brockhurst, Oakland Ca. There will be a brief presentation on the work of People’s Grocery and a short intro on all the programs of People’s Grocery, including our internship program and volunteer opportunities. Bring a dish and bring a friend.

People’s Grocery will also be co-hosting (with City Slicker Farms) its third annual anti-oppression and understanding privilege training for our interns and volunteers. The training will be Tuesday, May 5th from 10-3pm.
