Dear Barry,
Dr Paul Edward Tamblyn (1943-2010) great Canadian and International Barbershop Director, Coach, Leader, Ambassador of Song and Sing Canada Founder's Club member was honoured at a pre-contest performance (in preparation for the contest stage in Tampa Florida) by the now famous Cross Canada Youth Chorus (CCYC). Director Jordan Travis dedicated the ballad "FARE THEE WELL LOVE" to Paul of the Kingston ON Chapter. Paul passed away surrounded by family members shortly after watching the CCYC in their International Debut - but not before he established The Paul Tamblyn Scholarship Fund as a legacy to Canadian Barbershoppers and youth. Thank you Paul for the impact you made on the lives of so many around the globe. Fare the well love. (You may donate to Paul's scholarship fund by clicking here.)

The Celebration of Paul Tamblyns's Life |
Paul Tamblyn's life was celebrated as he had requested, in style with lots of singing led by family, loved ones, Barbershoppers and friends from across Canada. Close friends Ken Fisher, Bill Vermue and John Wilkie joined family members in eulogizing Paul's life. Everyone sang. Songs included "What a wonderfiul world" and "Teach the Children to Sing", "Take me Home Country Roads" and "MY AUNT CAME BACK..!!" one of Paul's signature tunes.
Paul's son John Paul Tamblyn accompanied and led two songs, Denis Laflamme accompanied "Amazing Grace" at the grand piano; John Wilkie during his eulogy just broke out into "My Aunt Came Back..." Everybody sang "Amazing Grace" and Paul's Barbershop "Friends in Harmony" directed by Ken Fisher sang "Teach the Children to Sing" "I Believe". The "Elements of Sound" quartet sang "Thank You Dear Lord for Music". An "AFTERGLOW" followed with more singing, exactly what Paul wanted. 200 or more colleagues and friends joined family members in fellowship and remembrance. It was AWESOME !! What a wonderful world - what a wonderful husband, father, uncle grandfather, brother, friend, colleague, coach, leader and Barbershopper. As an eternal memorial, Paul's name will be engraved on the Keep a Melody Ringing plaque in Barbershop Harmony Socety Headquarters, Nashville TN also known as Music City. |

It was a wonderful celebration to remember and honour Paul |

At the AFTERGLOW, Paul's wife Doreen received many hugs and expressions of gratitude for the life of Paul. She is seen above left with (L-R) Barry Towner, Doreen, and Sing Canada Board Members Sharon Towner and Digger MacDougall. Doreen can be seen wearing proudly her Sing Canada Founder's Club ribbon and Paul's Ambassador of Song ribbon. Paul and Doreen joined two other Canadian couples and hundreds of American couples in the O.C. Cash Founder's Club shortly before Pauls passing.
Right above: Ken Fisher, a best friend of Paul directed 60 of "Paul's Friends in Harmony" who performed during the celebration. The songs that Paul had selected gave witness to his "Joie de vivre", his attitude toward life and his high esteem for Barbershop Harmony and all for which it stands. Paul ensured the Barbershoppers present sang "Teach the Children to Sing", the theme song for Sing Canada Harmony and the Barbershop Harmony Society.
