| President's Message
It is an honor to write the first President’s Message in this newly developed electronic newsletter. We hope this will be an effective way to share with the large network of Leadership Worthington supporters. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your comments or ideas regarding this newsletter.
We have a number of very exciting things happening this year. Val Knapp, our youth programs coordinator, created a new, one-day training event for graduates of the high school program. This was in response from the wonderful high school students who enjoyed their six-week program and wanted more.
We have another wonderful class of adults working with Dr. Ted Sun, our adult lead faculty. They have just completed a daylong, mid-year retreat and have identified their service projects.
Several workgroups have come together to review how our board conducts business. As a result, there has been a positive restructure of our committees and board along with rewriting our bylaws. Another workgroup reviewed our sponsorship program and made some minor adjustments to make sure our supporters are recognized appropriately. Finally, we have a group working with a graphic artist on our informational materials to ensure a uniform message and branding. We look forward to sharing those materials shortly.
It is a great pleasure working with our wonderful Leadership Worthington network of staff and volunteers. I specifically want to thank Doug Trueman who so eagerly agreed to create this new communiqué.

Leadership Worthington
Leadership Worthington will graduate class #19 this coming May.
Planners and founders of our leadership program are "smiling" as we will celebrate two decades of a "class act leadership program". This could not have happened without supportive community leaders helping to launch, develop, tweak and celebrate our existence.
A busy February for the Class of 2009.
The Business Track starts things off on the 5th with a session on creating a sustainable business. The class will explore knowledge management, innovation, leading/empowering employees, conflict "management", loyalty methods and adult learning theory.
The Municipal Track picks up on the 12th when the class has the opportunity to meet with city boards, commissions and leaders to understand the challenges facing our Boards & Commissions in Worthington.
Both Tracks combine to explore the complexity of leadership ethics on the 26th. The class will discuss the difference between the foundations of scarcity/fear and abundance/inspiration. Class members will learn how to enable ethical behavior from all individuals.

Sixteen youth leaders attended this workshop on Diversity and Decision Making. Kathy Lechman, from the OSU Extension, presented the session on “Flash Judgments: A Snapshot of Diversity”. Students developed an understanding of hidden biases, labeling and attitudes towards others. Leadership Moments
Leadership Moments offer a look into many "ah-has", tried and true tips to help individuals lead and guide with a new insight to administer, direct, share and comment. Many are lighthearted and pointed and the words help, steer and tolerate our directions to lead and live.
How to Walk the Path
Walking the path is only half the battle. How we walk the path is just as important. Think about mindsets and how we adopt them. What approaches we take, and what provisions we take on this walk are important. It is the combination of the path ahead, and how we walk the path that determines the quality and character of our lives (family, work, and community connections).
Think of deep awareness, courage to try, break through innovations, purposeful spontaneity concluding with adaptive persistence.
How was your walk?
