Dear Friends

Well - we are almost there ... CHRISTMAS. A time of celebration with family and friends as we rejoice in the Birth of Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

The December Mission Trips are all finished and were a huge success. S.O.S. (Sack of Smiles) and Food Packages are all delivered. 1,300 people in Romania have a little more to celebrate with this Christmas because of the kindness and generosity of so many.

This December has seen one of the biggest responses to our appeals in recent years. It's amazing that after such a tough year economically, so many have responded by giving so much to so many.

Within the joy of achieving so much through the work of Smiles, is the realisation that there is still so much to be done. We acknowledge this week the 20^th Anniversary of Romania's Revolution that ended Communism in December 1989 and gave the Romanian people FREEDOM.

That freedom has come at a price. In addition to the hundreds who lost their lives in the revolution, millions today still suffer every day with inadequate resources to live a life with the basic necessities of food and water, sanitation and warmth. Many do not have a Home; even more are without electricity or running water on a daily basis. Still more lack medical help, educational support and a friend who cares.

The Smiles Foundation wants to be a friend to those in need.

For all the supporters of Smiles this past year, we say ‘Thank You' for making a difference - for changing the World for Someone - and expressing God's Love in a meaningful way to someone in need.

We pray 2010 will be even better as more people join our efforts to ‘Change the World for Someone' in Romania.  For the many who are still waiting for help - we pray someone will add their support today and allow us to help - to ‘Change the World for those who patiently wait.'

As our Special Video released today says to the Romanian people, to commemorate the 20^th Anniversary of the Revolution and fall of Communism - DON'T GIVE UP.... You are Loved.
