I believe one of the most important elements in a strong leader is the ability to listen and learn from those they serve and those they are empowered to work beside.A leader must understand the needs and concerns of members as well as how to meet those needs within the workings of an association. In recent years there has been a desire to increase communication between members and candidates for the AANA Board. As one step towards achieving a goal of opening that channel of communication, last year I authored a Resolution that established an online forum for members and candidates to exchange information during the campaign cycle.

Beginning this month, members can submit questions to AANA Board candidates as one way to learn more about the candidates and to help you make an informed decision when voting. For more information, please visit the members section of the AANA website and click on Coming Soon: Online Forum for Candidates for the AANA Board of Directors to learn how to participate. I encourage you to take the time to submit questions to all the candidates and vote in this year's election. I would deeply appreciate your vote to serve as Treasurer of the AANA.
