Goodreads Launches Online Book Group
from BookGroupBuzz
Goodreads has launched a new online book group. Features include active discussion boards for each chapter of the featured book, a chance to highlight favorite quotes, online polls about the book and quizzes. Live chat sessions with author and other expert commentary are also available. While an online book group is not quite the same social experience as a face-to-face group, this implementation has plenty of resources to make it a rewarding experience for those who participate. To date, over 3000 readers have signed up to give it a try. For libraries, this might be a place to point certain readers who are looking for a new or additional book group and are willing to try online activities. Read more>>>

Facebook for Libraries
In an American Libraries feature, David Lee King writes: “Today, I spent part of the day connecting with people. I complained about a silly election video, chatted with a college friend about a band, and put some finishing touches on plans for a conference taking place at the library. I did all this through Facebook. Here’s how to set up a Facebook account, and how to use it to connect with your community.” Read more>>>
