 Rider Advice #1

TREE THINNING! Thinning operations in Sparrow Hill are in full swing, so if you are heading out there for training, please be advised and abide by all signs and instructions. The area being thinned is indicated on this MAP. BE CAREFUL - TRUCKS and BIKES don't mix.

 LIKE FREE PANCAKES?

 dutchpancakes_180px.jpg

Would you like to eat Free Delicious Dutch Pancakes for whole Mont weekend? Would your team mates be impressed with you if they got the same deal?

If your answer is 'Hell Yes!", then read on... Delicious Dutch Pancakes are going to sponsor a team at the Mont. All you need to do is impress the hell out of us with your writing prowess. Win, and you and your team will get free pancakes all weekend. (Note: You should probably still ride!)

In 100 words or less, convince us why you are the most worthy for sponsorship. Be creative, compelling and of course highly entertaining. What would be your team name be? Tell us what you are willing to do? Send your entry HERE! Winners announced before the event.

 RIDER ADVICE #2

ROOS ABOUND There are many kangaroos at Sparrow Hill. You will definitely see them while racing, and apart from bolting a Shu-Roo to the front of your bike, there's not much you can do about their bounding through the trees and across the trails. Just be aware they are out there, and hopefully you will not encounter one at speed.

 GOT A HOT TIP?

If you have one thing you think is essential to your camping or team's racing experience. Shoot it to us HERE and we'll post the best ones in the next newsletter.

 STAY IN THE LOOP

If you have missed any of our Newsletters, you can view them HERE.

Welcome to Newsletter #6. Take a few minutes to read it through and then send it on to your teammates. We look forward to seeing you at the Mont soon. Keep the rubber side down! Did anyone say FREE PANCAKES?

RAWHIDE ROLLER RACING!Rawhide_180px.gif

We know you love to race, and we know you'd love to let the cat out of the bag about how quick you are in a sprint. Here's your chance to show your stuff.

For the first time ever, a night of raucous Rawhide Roller Racing will be held on Friday night before the Mont. We'll be having some qualifying, heats and finals and afterward we may even have some grudge matches - where you can call out someone for a one-on-one for bragging rights. We may take bookings before race day, keep an eye on the website (and newsletters).

A great reason to arrive early, set up and have some fun. Saddle Up! Go HERE for more information and to see roller racing videos.

SCHWALBE TYRESRacing-Ralph_180px.jpg

Our good friends at Schwalbe are delighted to be a sponsor of The Mont 24 Hour Race and hope that the Mont will be your time to shine, perhaps with a little help from Ralph, Nic, or even Ron. Who are these guys? No, they're not the guys from Schwalbe... they are the names of Schwalbe tyres.

What is the perfect tyre for the Mont? A Schwalbe of course, and if you swing by the Bike Culture Bike Workshop at the Mont, they will have a bunch of fast riding Schwalbe tyres for you to choose from - so you can skip out onto the trail and put down your best lap times. Go HERE for more information.

MOVIE FESTIVAL AT THE MONTmoviefestival.jpg

Cannes, Flickerfest, Sundance, Whistler - all famous film festivals, and not one of them held in a forest. We'll fix that oversight in 2010 as we host the inaugural MTB Film Festival in and amongst the action of the Mont 24 Hour MTB Race 2010. You are invited to submit an entry... but you better be quick!

JETBLACK TRAINERSJB_trainer_180px.jpg

Winning a 24 hour race is all in the preparation. Preparation for this type of racing will not wait for suitable weather. World Solo 24 hour Champion Jason English relies on JetBlack trainers to clock up the hours in the saddle he needs for success. “The only way to prepare for an event like this is with the use of a good indoor trainer... we can race in any conditions but for consistent training we need to be able to work out indoors. I use JetBlack Trainers because they are the best I have found - well designed, durable, and easy to set up and use at events...”

The JetBlack Warm Up Area will again be available should you wish to warm up on complimentary JetBlack trainers before your lap. More information HERE.

GU CHOMPS - MINI REVIEW Chomps.jpg

As a kid, I could knock off a pack of jelly babies without too much effort and I am sure this could have been my very mild super power if it weren't for competing products like snakes, cobbers and bananas. They were a favourite for sure and I am pretty sure I was never short of energy while doing skids around the shops and fanging around back streets near my house. Ahh, the good old days - simple sugars, simple pleasures.

These days however, I need a little more to keep me going strong. Good food, water, drink mixes, gels and bars play a role - and I like the variety - but lately I've been taking some Gu Chomps along in my back pocket, and I am liking them... More on this review HERE
