Testimonial

I have every temperament in my family. We all like to have input into family plans and we all approach planning in a different way.

Thanks to Fiona's workshop I now know where everyone is coming from. As an Idealist this has really helped me understand my family and be less frustrated when we're planning family events.

Hello Fiona

When this issue hits your inbox, I'll be in Israel celebrating my sister's 50th birthday! This trip has been months in the planning...but I haven't had to do much more than get my tickets. All I can say is, "Thank goodness for Guardians!"

Guardians are strong in logistics and my sister, along with her (probably Guardian) friends planned a camping trip in Israel right down to who’s bringing the can-opener. All I have to do is pack my suitcase and get on the plane. She will pick me up, and for 8 days she will run my life...and I’m thankful for the break.

Knowing that you probably have vacations on your mind too, see if you can recognize yourself, your colleagues, friends and family in Temperaments on Vacation and enjoy my fast food falafel recipe.

I’ll be back in Victoria on July 3rd. I hope you all have a great June and I look forward to connecting with you when I’m back.

Temperaments on Vacation

Do you have fun on family vacations? Or do you find yourself wishing you'd stayed home and let everyone do their own thing?

Here are some insights into temperament that might help you and yours have a great time this summer.

Guardian - courtesy of Personalityzone.comGuardians like to have all their ducks in a row. They love creating itineraries, budgeting costs, allocating responsibilities, and determining the best routes for speed or sight-seeing. They will be happy if everyone knows their responsibilities and sticks to the plan. They will be unhappy if someone keeps challenging or changing agreed upon plans.

Artisan - courtesy of Personalityzone.comArtisans like to fly by the seat of their pants and go with the flow. They willl be happy if they have lots of options for action, adventure or relaxation. They live in the moment and will be unhappy with rigid schedules or demands on their time and attention.

Idealist - courtesy of Personalityzone.comIdealists like to be with people and make sure that there’s something for everyone to enjoy. They will take everyone’s tastes into account and try to find food, entertainment and relaxation options to accommodate everyone. They will be happy surrounded by people they care about. They strive for harmony and will be unhappy if their companions are unhappy.

Rationals (like me) like to accomplish things on their vacations. We Rational - courtesy of Personalityzone.comwork at everything. On this vacation, I plan to write articles, learn some new origami techniques, and paint pets on rocks with my niece and nephews. I'll be happy if I get to do my own thing inside someone else’s plan.

Generally, Rationals will be happy if there’s time to focus on their own projects – usually reading, writing, and learning. They will be unhappy if people keep trying to draw them into other activities when they want to be focused on their own thing.

Fast Food Falafel

falafel.jpgI was going to give you a recipe for home-made falafels, but since I’m on vacation I recommend you pick up a box of Casbah or Fantastic Foods falafel mix at your local grocery store and follow the directions on the box.

They’re easy to make and fun to eat.

As you can see by this picture they are a favourite fast food in Israel. I'll be eating a lot of them when I'm there!

What do falafels have to do with temperament? Guardians will appreciate the nutritional value. Idealist will love that everyone can choose their own condiments. Artisans will have fun trying to fit everything in the pita pocket. And Rationals will just be happy to have a whole meal in their hand...so they can keep thinking about whatever it is they’re thinking about.

Do you have a favourite recipe you'd like me to include in my newsletter?

Send it via email...or call me at 250-418-5982 and invite me over to try it. I love it when other people cook for me.
