Greetings Girls' Leadership Champions,
Knowing who we are is the beginning and the foundation of our own leadership development. I am Eastern-born and Western-bred with a global vision to transform the world to value the world’s poorest girls. This vision began when I was nine years old, soon after I moved to the United States. A wise and compassionate woman - Sofia - took me under her wings and taught me about my own leadership development. My Sofia's name was Barbara and Barbara took me to the projects of Houston, Texas. Not by words, but by actions, she demonstrated three essential components:
1. Compassion - having empathy for others;
2. Service - action to benefit others;
3. Know Thyself - knowing who you are and how you can be an agent for change in the world.
That seed has been cultivated into a journey of serving the poor. Sadly, everywhere I went, I witnessed the same reality - the feminization of human suffering and its devastating impact locally and globally. It is why I started 4Girls GLocal Leadership (4GGL).
Now, in this edition, I would like for you to get to know who we are - multi-generations of women and our leadership. Then I hope you’ll becoming a LEADER to support our work - girls’ leadership development in Pakistan with Afghanistan and India. It is the only way we can transform the world to value the world’s poorest girls.
Peace, courage, and love,

Jin In

I'm experienced in storytelling, performing arts (oboe, singing, and acting), film, writing, relationship (inbound) marketing, lobbying congress regarding poverty-related issues, IT, and event planning. I'm very passionate about the intersection between theology and culture. I think it's vital to help people, especially women in so many different cultures and religious traditions, to discern the sometimes incomprehensible differences between the two.

The one word that describes me best is “marshmallow.” It is admittedly a strange choice, but it does describe me. Like a marshmallow, I am soft. If you squeeze a marshmallow, it springs back to its original shape, but retains your fingerprints - that is me. People and events can influence me and leave their impressions on me, but that does not mean the loss of my own identity or personality.

I like to face challenges as I am facing a challenge of completing my master of Economics along with supporting my parents through teaching profession. I remained active with the youth, worship group, and Sunday school of International Christian Fellowship. I once asked myself what drives me and realized that it was doing the things I loved, the things that give me fulfillment and satisfaction, the things that make me happy. My happiness is derived from the REAL things in life - a loving family, good friends, and a great God.

My biggest rock, support, example, my everything has been my mother and I regard her as my role model and my greatest teacher. She has always dealt with hurdles in the most dignified and just manner. She has taught me the values of love, peace, tolerance and, most importantly, justice and compassion. Something she reminds me till this day is, “Do not forget to repay the world for what it has given you.” This is where I get my determination and diligence to be a strong and remarkable woman like my mother, and for this to gain knowledge and further create awareness for the development of society and empowerment of girls to be responsible and contributing members of society.

I am the only daughter of my family and really love and respect for my mother, a single parent who has been always there for me every single second. The word that best describes me is “intelligent.” This intelligence is concerned with the sharpness of my mind and the way I analytically take things. I am observant and notice things deep down until I reach the perfect solution to them.

I like doing a lot of volunteer work and, for this reason, I joined the UN online volunteers network. I am currently handling four projects running in Cameroon, Uganda, and Canada. They are related to research work and that is my second passion. To do a lot of research in whatever field I can contribute to. My third passion is learning new languages and experiencing different cultures. For this reason, I took on the task of learning French and Italian at home and have made some headway in that.

I was taught both at home and school both that what matters is how we manage things so as to give maximum benefit to others, especially to those we love. I believe that in order to bring about a positive change in our surroundings we need to be flexible and more towards adapting things that can/will be fruitful for us in future. We all want to see women’s strength as separate and not dependant upon the backing of others. We have the capability of changing this world so must we all join hands together to nurture and enlighten the voice of women power and strength.
Dr. Hoyaam Karimian

My aim in life has and will always be, apart from studies, to serve humanity in any way that is in my hands and to take care of all my loved ones around me. Being of the Bahai religion, whose principles are based on peace and harmony, I am serving humanity in all possible ways that my religion is providing me and, as a part of this organization, I am proud to say that I am fighting for the rights of women!
