Forward this message to a friend Hello Sherilyn! From the Heart , A personal message from Sherilyn, “Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty - they merely move it from their faces into their hearts.” Martin Buxbaum True Beauty is Life Reflected in your Face© Is taking time for yourself to look and be your best…is it vanity, empowerment or just being responsible? Life events and Milestones march on. Mother’s Day has come and gone and now we look forward to Father’s day and perhaps celebrating Graduation commencements with our child, relative or friends. I Blog about how we wear these life’s events on our faces and gives some thought as to how we can be content with that, happy even, and still look our best. Do we truly want to erase all of our life’s experiences from our expressive faces? I for one do not. Read more of my article at my blog here: “Beauty is one of the rare things that do not lead to doubt of God. “(Jean Anouilh) Faces Forward- Question: What are Glycolic Acids , Multi-Fruit Acids or Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (aka AHA’s)? Answer: Glycolic Acids are also known as Multi-Fruit Acids and Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (synonym: hydroxyethanoic acid or AHA). Glycolic Acid occurs naturally as a trace component in sugarcane, beets, grapes and fruits, Laboratories process the product through a sustainable manufacturing process to ensure purity and consistency. Escent Skin Care utilizes a Multi-Fruit Acid Blend that includes Grape, Kiwi, Apple and Strawberry Fruit Extracts. (Vitis Vinifera Fruit Extract, Actinidia Chinensis Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract, and Fragaria Vesca Fruit Extract). Question: What does Glycolic Acid do and why is it added to skin care and/or nail care products? Answer: Glycolic Acids provide increased exfoliation and increased moisturization. Glycolic Acids are added to anti-aging products to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve elasticity and firmness. Glycolic Acids also improve the appearance of sun damaged skin and fighting skin aging revealing a smoother, brighter, more supple skin with less pigmentation and fewer irregularities. It promotes the cycle of skin shedding (also known as cell turnover) and re-growth and enhances performance of certain topical over-the-counter and prescription applications Properties and Benefits: An in-depth review:
Glycolic Acid penetrates the skin effectively and stimulates cellular activity. It moisturizes the stratum corneum to alleviate dry skin and flaking; After 2 years of study, an independent Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) panel unanimously reaffirmed the safety of AHAs in retail products at concentrations up to 10%. The panel concluded that glycolic and lactic acids, their common salts and their simple esters, are safe for use in cosmetic products at concentrations less than or equal to 10%, at phs greater than or equal to 3.5, when formulated to avoid increasing the skin's sensitivity to the sun, or when directions for use include the daily use of sun protection (Schwartz, 1997). In general, lower-concentration AHA products simply accelerate cell loss and increase exfoliation, resulting in cosmetically improved skin. AHA peels may also increase the growth of normal, undamaged cells underneath actinic lesions (Newman et al., 1996) EXTRA TIP: To pull it all together: If you want more aggressive peels or glycolic treatments, do not attempt to apply Glycolic Acids in concentration higher than 5% yourself, always seek a reputable skin care professional.
