TORONTO: Launch Party and Pep Rally
NEW HAVEN: Reading and Post-Contest Meetup
NEW YORK: U.S. Launch and Post-Contest Meetup Many entrants plan to post Twitter updates of their progress (or growing insanity) during the upcoming contest. If you want to do the same, try using the hashtag #3dnc to be part of the larger conversation. But don't spend too much time on Twitter (or Facebook or the chat room) ... if you aren't writing your novel, you're better off walking, eating, sleeping, weeping or otherwise refuelling your brain.
A few more novels that began as 3-Day drafts are finding their way to the bookstores.
Keep an eye out for these new additions to the 3-Day genre. And if something great came out of your 3-Day Novel experience, let us know at info@3daynovel.com.
Two of our past winners, Hayden Trenholm and Brendan McLeod, keep giving us stuff to write about. Hayden, who now lives in Ottawa, is about to release another novel. Steel Whispers is an "edge-of-your seat amalagam of police procedural and razor-sharp science fiction." Find out more at Bundoran Press. Brendan McLeod, meanwhile, is releasing a solo CD. Little Troubles, Live is a mix of the songs, poems, stories, and bits of energetic banter from McLeod's performances. It chronicles the difficulties that result from being a person in the world, "from oversized sweaters and break ups to funerals and robberies, serving up a manifold world of earnest difficulties and uneasy conclusions with humour and heart." Don't miss his CD release party at the Anza Club in Vancouver on August 26.
