Home & Garden Show
The Prescription Medication Collection Day at the Home and Garden show was another success in the efforts to reduce youth access to these potentially dangerous drugs and protecting the environment.
We would like to give special thanks to Lindsay Marich of our Business Sector, Daria Kent, from Nevada County Recycles (our expert in all things to do with recycling), and Ed from the Grass Valley Police Department Volunteers for their help with the collection day!

NU NEO Club & Friday Night Live Tackle Binge Drinking at Prom
NEO and Friday Night Live have partnered up to bring awareness to binge drinking and drinking & driving issues centered around prom season. Their binge drinking campaign will feature a poster series of humorous, yet true statements about what alcohol tells you to do. They have also created a drinking and driving campaign with posters exclaiming “My beer told me to run into a tree,” which will be accompanied by a pledge students can take committing not to drink and drive. Students who take the pledge will be given tree shapped car air fresheners with the bold statement, “Don’t hit a tree! Drive alcohol free!”.

Overtime Continued!
The Friday night youth program, Overtime, has seen overwhelming success since it's inception early this year. With help from Coalition Faith Sector Volunteers, Parent Volunteers, NEO Youth Volunteers and many others. Every Firday night at Park Avenue the gym has been filled with Nevada County teens riding unicycles, playing video games, competing in ping pong tournaments and playing games. The Coalition would like to send a special thanks to Randy & Austin Fields, Georgia Wilson, Derek Brown, Park Avenue Continuation School and all the volunteers who came together to make Overtime such a success! Overtime is scheduled to begin again in August 2010. |

Monthly Asset Tip - Asset 39
When young people think today about what they want to accomplish in their lives, it shapes their sense of purpose. Research shows young people who have a sense of purpose feel good about themselves, get along better with their parents, and get into less trouble. For those who do not, caring adults can help them identify what matters most to them and what they find meaningful.
