Just the Facts Initiative
Hot on the heels of CADFY's (Community Alliances for Drug Free Youth) inspiring presentation on January 13th of this year, Nevada County has put together a subcommittee to inform the Community about the horrendous deficits that legalizing marijuana would create for our youth, future generations, and our quality of life here in Nevada County.
This subcommittee’s primary objective will be implementing the new "Just the Facts" Initiative to spread education and awareness about the detrimental effects of marijuana legalization. Supported by several key figures in Nevada County, we're confident that the "Just the Facts" Initiative will be successful in generating the necessary support from the community which will ensure defeat of any legalization initiatives on the ballot this coming November.
This year alone we've already had two home invasion robberies over marijuana, the first on January 2nd, the second on February 19th.

Discounted Drug Testing at CoRR!
On Saturday March 6th, from 9:00 – 1:00, Community Recovery Resources, at 440 Hendeson St., suite C will be offering drug testing to adolescents up to 18 years old for a $5.00 suggested donation.
Adolescents must be accompanied by an adult. Results will be given on-site within 20 minutes of testing; no results will be supplied over the phone. We hope that this will motivate parents and youth into coming by and receiving information on addressing substance abuse problems within our youth. If you are concerned about yourself, a friend, or a family member’s possible substance use, we invite you to come on by and find out what we can do to help. A substance abuse counselor will be available for any questions or concerns.

NEO : The New Generation
NEO began in the summer of 2008 with the goal of giving teens in Nevada County a fun, safe, and drug free environment to hang out in. They encourage individuality and believe it’s important for teens to be empowered with the knowledge that they have a choice to not use drugs or alcohol.
This week from February 22nd –February 26th is NEO Week. Starting this Friday, several local businesses are offering discounts to any customer wearing a NEO shirt. For a complete list of businesses supporting NEO on Fridays, please check out their newly updated website at http://www.ncneo.com/. The website also contains information on where you can purchase your own NEO shirt. NEO week will be capped off with a concert on Friday the 26th at Park Avenue starting at 8:30.
By putting on concerts, Thursday Night Market, dance parties, booths at the fair, and several other exciting events, NEO has really established them self as a positive and fun alternative to using drugs. Visit the website and see what you can do to get involved!

Washington DC trip Cancelled due to Blizzard!
Well, wouldn't you know it? The day we were going to fly out to Washington DC, our nation's capitol is bombarded with a record setting snow storm. After rearranging our travel plans, more than a few times, we were unfortunately forced to cancel the trip. We are all truly disappointed with the timing of this blizzard, but the whole experience leaves us even more excited for next year's convention!
