| Hello {FIRST_NAME}! | May 26th, 2009 |

”Dear Mom and Dad, every fifteen minutes someone in the United States dies from an alcohol related traffic accident, and today I died. I never got the chance to tell you…….”
Earlier this month, local high school juniors and seniors participated in the powerful two day activity “Every 15 Minutes". Designed to challenge students to think about impaired driving, personal safety, the responsibility of making mature decisions and the impact their decisions have on family and friends, and many others, these two day's leave a lasting impression. (Julia and Baylee)
Thank You to Kelly Newell, Soroptimists, Nevada County Public Health, NEO, Bear River teacher chaperones, CHP and Camp Del Oro who all together helped to make this activity possible.
And a very special thank you to Baylee Reynolds and David Kecy who shared their stories and inspired the group.
Kudos to local Nevada Union Student Julia Morton (in picture above), for her Senior Project Focused on Preventing Drug Abuse Through Meth Awareness and Education!
Julia contacted the Coaltion to gather resources for her senior project. She presented information and resources to her fellow students in an effort to educate them on the dangers of Meth.
Julia shared a little about her friend Baylee's family and how their loss because of meth abuse inspires her to want to help.
She also organized a fundraiser and set out to not only educate and raise awareness, but to contribute in the most giving way to Prevention efforts here in Nevada County. The Drew Reynolds Memorial Foundation Matched the funds she raised, and Julia presented a check for $1,150 for CoRR's Adolescent Prevention and Early Intervention Programs. We were all take back by her generous spirit and bright smile and Wish her all the best. Thank You Julia!

We're pleased to have state and local representatives from the offices of Congressman Tom McClintock, State Assemblyman Dan Logue and our local Board of Supervisors attending.
