Greetings! Welcome to Special Olympic Gymnastics!
My name is Colleen Foley and I will be your loved ones gymnastics coach. My experience with gymnastics stems from many years ago in Ashland, WI. I competed gymnastics from age 5 up to a senior in high school. In this time, I became a level 9 elite gymnast and competed at state competition all four years of high school. In high school, I also coached gymnastics levels tots-8. I was the head coach of the tots classes were I developed their workouts and progression plans. I also coached at the world-renowned Lake Owen Gymnastics Camp. After high school, an elbow injury and desire to try something new gave me permission to let go of gymnastics. Maybe it was the Beijing Olympics which inspired me, but after only a few years out, I have an itch to dive into the sport!
My experience with the intellectually disabled stems from my desire to be a healthcare provider. Currently, I am a registered nurse at UW-Hospital. Prior to earning my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, I was a therapist for children with Autism. I am back in school earning my Mater’s Degree and with my degree hope to increase the quality of life for the intellectually disabled.
I am not trying to toot my own horn in this letter. I want those of you involved in your loved ones life to understand that I am passionate about their well-being. I want you to know that they are in good hands. I provide quality gymnastics coaching with safety as my top priority. Of course my second priority is to give them an opportunity to have FUN with gymnastics.
I am certain this will be a fun Special Olympic gymnastics season. If you have any questions or concerns- please feel free to come talk to me after a practice or call me 715-492-5256.
I look forward to working with your loved ones!
