Hi Everyone,
We have set the location and times for the softball & bocce ball season this summer.
Practice will be on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:00-7:30 outside the Middleton District Administration Building (DAC), 7106 South Ave, Middleton starting June 9th. Softball be held on the baseball diamond and bocce will be on the grass adjacent to the building. We need volunteers, so please let me know if you would like to help out.
Both teams will participate in tournaments during the sport season. There is a bocce tournament in Reedsburg on June 20th, and a softball tournament in LaCrosse on either June 20 or 21 (date TBD). The district competition date for both sports is July 11th. If we win and were eligible for state, that would be Aug 7-9.
We also will be hosting our own softball tournament at the new baseball/softball complex on Airport Rd. tentatively on July 5th. The date is tentative because I need to make sure we will have enough players to field a team on that holiday weekend. It would be pretty embarrassing to host a tournament that we wouldn't have our own team in. Because of many factors, we are held to that date unless we postponed into August, and it would be hard to find other teams at that point. This is a great opportunity to get our foot in the door, and we can try for better date next year if this goes over well. If you know your athlete is playing softball, please let me know ASAP if you will not be available that day.
While we are on the subject of tournaments, I need to start entering our teams (both softball and bocce) this week. To assist with the planning, Please click on this link, and enter your athletes name and select softball or bocce ball. At this point, we will have one team for each sport. If more athletes sign up we will have more, but priority will be given to those who sign up by this Wed. I can't just assume we will have two teams for softball, sign up for tournaments, and then tell them later, sorry to mess up your schedule, but we only have one team now.

Softball is slow pitch (underhand), and for the most part follows general softball regulations. Bocce is a fun alternative for athletes that may have trouble hitting and fielding a softball.
