Hi everyone,

Our group has been approved to volunteer for Brat Fest 2009!

Historically this has been a great moneymaker for Special Olympics. And making sure we have enough money to do what we want to do is a great way to start off this new agency. It is mostly because of Brat Fest that we are able to make Special Olympics affordable for most families and provide scholarships for those who do need it. While we “inherited” a considerable sum from the amazing efforts of 6-10, we want to be proactive about maintaining our budget. This money provides for the uniforms, equipment, and facilities to train our athletes and to showcase their abilities in competition.

We are asking that all families volunteer 16 hours of time for our new agency. Please look over the positions and times, then contact Lori Powell (uccpowell@tds.net) to provide the positions, days and times your family would like to volunteer for. And remember to ask relatives and friends to volunteer as well!

If you are unable to participate in this event, we are asking for a $100 donation to Agency 6-20. If you are in need of a financial assistance waiver, please contact Don Wigington.

Remember these slots fill up fast, so be sure to get your info to Lori ASAP. We have more griller spots open to us than any other position, so PLEASE, if you can try to fill a griller spot (I guarantee you will not go away hungry).

The Positions that are available to us are the following:

Griller:
This is a "Hot Job", fast paced, very smoky, contact lenses could be a problem here. A little lifting, filling grills, turning brats, etc. Expect to shower after this job. Bring your sunscreen & hat, this job is in the sun.
**must be at least 18 years to sign up

Brat Runner:
Keeps feeding hot brats and hot dogs to the wrapping stations for wrapping. No minimum physical fitness level required, only ability to carry hot pans full of good eats.
***Must be at least 14

Bag Opener:
Opens plastic bags so brat runners can put brats and dog in the bags easily for customers. Keeps the lines moving (can be a sit down job, this is a great kids job)
***Must be 12 years old

Condiment Stocker:
Maintain clean and full condiment stations. Must be able to move easily between crowds and squeeze yourself between customers and condiment stations to fill ketchup, mustard and other containers. A challenging job, must be willing to work and never stop.
***Must be at least 14 years old

Sparkle Patrol:
Empties trash cans, cleans tables, retrieves water in 5 gallon buckets and assists customers as needed.
***Must be at least 12 years old
