Summer Opportunities
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to put out an announcement for some fun summer activities being planed by the Doin-R-Thing group. Some of you already participate, and others have heard me talk about them in the past. This a group that Tyler has done many different activities with that past year and he has made a lot of new friend. The group is run by a a wonderful person named Jerry Donnell. He is honestly one of the most likable guys you could ever meet. His goal is to get individuals with disabilities out doing fun activities and interacting with their friends. There are no commitments (not another brat-fest) or membership fees. You just let Jerry know what you are interested in then there is usually a small cost for events you decide to participate in. This group is not associated with Special Olympics, however there is a large number of athletes that participate. Jerry's daughter Erin is in the West Madison group. I have included a recent email below, so you may respond to Jerry (doinrthing@yahoo.com) directly if you are interested. Please feel free to pass this information along or if you know anyone not in our group that may be interested in participating.

Proposed Doin’ R Thing Spring & Summer Calendar
Hi Everybody,
Our Fall Bowling league ended with our banquet last Wednesday and now it’s time to start planning activities for the next few months. This email is a quick update on what I am hoping to do this Spring & Summer. After I hear from you, I will prepare a calendar on planned activities. It should include at least 2 Brewer games, 4 Mallards games, 2 ASA Races, the annual Packer Softball game, 2 Karaoke Parties, the Dane County Fair, Mini Golf and some movies, along with a Wednesday Spring Bowling league that begins this Wednesday night. However to do this, I need your help. I don’t wish to plan activities if you’re not interested, so I need you to reply with your choices of what you want to do. If you wish to join us in any of the above activities, or have ideas for other outings, please tell me by return email. We can get group discounts if we have enough people going to most events. But I can’t plan these if I don’t know who wants to go. I also want to plan activities for people who can’t go on certain days. You can help by telling me what you want to do and when you can join us.
As of now most I don’t have the details on most of the proposed outings because I need your replies, but I do have tickets available for the ASA Race on Sunday May 3rd. There is a limited amount of tickets and they will be on a 1st come basis. If you are interested, you must tell me right away.
Our Spring Bowling League begins this Wednesday night. This is for our “Bowl-aholics” who aren’t ready to quit for the year and for new bowlers who want to join us. This is an excellent chance to find out if you wish to bowl in a league. The cost is $9 per night. You are not required to be there every week as you are in our Fall league. You may bowl as often or as little as you wish. We plan to have a Summer Sunday Night league starting in June.
I would also like to go to a Brewer game in May. Possibly on May 12th or 13th. To plan this I need to know how many people would rise the bus. I want to go to Mallards game on both week nights & weekends, again I need to know when you want to go. The Packer Softball game may be on May 30th. I need to confirm this and find out the ticket cost. Last year they were $16. If we have enough interest, we will have more Karaoke parties, but we need at least 50 people attend them. You need to tell me if you want to do this. We need at least 40 people if we want to take a bus to the Dells. We didn’t have enough interest in the Dane County Fair, Mini Golf and Movies last year, so we dropped them, but we will try again if you want to do these. There are other possible activities I hope to tell about in my next email. Meanwhile, I need to know what you want to do. Please email me or call me and tell me what you would like to do. I’ll be waiting to hear from you.
