Sustainable Business in Practice Expo

More than 250 companies and public sector organisations attended the Sustainable Business in Practice Expo 09 at the Future Inn, Cabot Circus Hotel on 10th July. Developing sustainable and profitable business models was the main focus of the conference and exhibition. It provided insights, ideas and expert practical advice to help organisations create winning green business strategies and meet efficiency, financial and commercial goals.

US Trade Mission Visit Bath and Bristol

A trade mission of clean tech, energy sector investment and R and D agencies from the United States eastern seaboard visited Bristol and Bath on 16th –17th  July.  This formed part of a  UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) a six day US Cleantech Roadshow to the UK to showcase the UK’s excellence in the cleantech sector. The roadshow focused on southern UK with UKTI hosting events in London, Watford, Cardiff, Bath, Bristol and Oxford.

BETS Members Forum

The BETS Members Forum was held on 31st July 2009 16.30 – 18.00 at The Pavilion Conference Venue  on Bristol’s  Harbourside. Alan Bailey (Co-Chair of BETS) reviewed activities since the last Member’s Forum in December 2008. In the past six months BETS has been represented at a wide range of local regional and national events and has hosted and organised several networking events for the BETS membership

Trade Missions

US Cleantech Trade Mission

UKTI will be hosting a five day mission to the US East Coast, including New York City and Boston from 7th - 11th September 2009.  This mission is designed to showcase UK excellence in the cleantech sector and explore opportunities in the US marketplace. UKTI will host senior level briefings,  networking receptions and site visits to best in class cleantech facilities. Mission participants will have the opportunity to attend Cleantech Forum East, meet key US state and corporate decision makers and meet companies  in both New York and Boston. UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) Overseas Seminar Missions 2009 - 2010

The UK Trade and Investment Overseas Seminar Missions provide an introduction to qualified business contacts in major international markets. Companies will meet buyers of environmental technologies including waste management, water treatment, air pollution control and energy from waste. Missions in 2009 – 2010 will be in Mexico, Turkey, Brazil, Romania and Bulgaria, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and India. Market Visit to United Arab Emirates

UKTI and the Abu Dhabi Embassy are organising a market visit to Masdar in the United Arab Emirates on 22nd – 26th November. China – Europa Sustainable Urban Development Exhibition

2Degrees

2Degrees is an online platform for sustainable business with 3500 members nationally. Bristol City Council has paid to set up our own network  which currently has 52 members. Membership will be free to BETS members for the first year. 2Degrees will be used to support the BETS Thematic Working Groups.
