Arts community invited to apply for new funding opportunity from HUD!

HUD and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) released two Notices of Funding Availability (NOFAs): $100 million in grants available through HUD's 
Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Program, and up to $75 million in grants available through a joint HUD and DOT Sustainable Communities Challenge Grant Program. Under both programs, arts organizations are eligible to partner with state and local governments, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), transit agencies, philanthropic and non-profit organizations and other eligible applicants to develop consortia grant proposals.

Anyone interested in participating in the webinar should log on to HUD's website at 3:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010.

In this 2-week theatre camp, from July 12th-July 23rd, 6th-9th graders will explore all aspects of theatre, led by a caring, enthusiastic and talented faculty of theatre artists, including Charla Cochran and Alexa McElroy.

Daily classes will include acting technique, voice and movement, improvisation, stagecraft, ensemble building, play rehearsal and a few other surprises, too!

Alabama Ballet's Tutus & Tiaras offers young dancers the opportunity to experience dance in a fun and nurturing environment and is a wonderful introduction to ballet study. For one week, four hours a day, children ages 4-7 will take an age appropriate ballet class, a tap class, create ballet oriented crafts and learn how ballet dancers tell stories with pantomime

The Teaching Artist Journal is seeking field reporters to expand the reach of voices that come to you through our print and online Newsbreak section

Complete this form and let us know more about your work.

Teaching Artist Journal will contact you within one week with an invitation or with a request for further information.

Writing samples will be reviewed for clarity and for relevant/unique perspectives.

The first deadline for information is July 20th, 2010.
