Help us Advocate for the Arts! We need your stories!
The 23rd annual Arts Advocacy Day is the only national event that
brings together a broad cross-section of America's cultural and civic
organizations, along with hundreds of grassroots advocates from across
the country, to underscore the importance of developing strong public
policies and appropriating increased public funding for the arts. The Alabama Dance Council is a Grassroots Partner! We will be meeting with Senate & House of Representative members on Tuesday, April 13th. If you have always wanted to share your story with your legislator now's your chance. Email us your story, and we will deliver it in person! Or register now to join us on Capitol Hill!

Did you know that federal funding makes up only 10% of all national expenditures on education? That means that the remaining 90% of funding - and the vast majority of policy - comes from state, local, and private sources. While the Performing Arts Alliance keeps you up-to-date on federal advocacy opportunities, remember that your advocacy at the state and local levels will make the critical difference in increasing support for arts education in your community. The most important education policy decisions are made at the local level, in your community, by your state legislators and school boards. The best advocate for arts education is not the full-time lobbyist in Washington or the state capitol - it's you: the volunteer, the trustee, the artist, the staff member, the audience.
