Tuesday's Tidbits
Abstract Mixed Media Collage
February 5th, 2019
Newsletter header
Tuesday's Tidbits is a Newsletter sharing available classes, workshops, events and collage art to help build your collection.  I've been working in the medium of collage and mixed media 24 years, can't believe it. And sharing my paper nuggets and crumpled wisdom through gatherings, instructional settings, retreats and circles of friends now for 22 years. A long time some would say. All I know is that I'm grateful that I've been able to work at what I love to do.

The art medium of "collage" has its beginnings from the French word, "coller" which means to glue.  Paper was and still is readily available to us all, it's a great source of material to glue to many surfaces.

Making collage papers from found paper is called, re-purposing  and it's ever changing in it's process and enjoyment for most collage artists. As you might have witness in my own artwork over the years. From a torn edge or cut edge,  I've always been at the papers mercy.   Being a creative maker all my life has been a combination of inner and outer understandings expressed in hopes of the compassion of others feelings, the wordless visual drama around us all.  I've been very fortunate to have had parents, teachers, loved one to encourage this continual crazy combination of self-expression. When people ask what is your "Goal or Dream," I only have this one, to be a elder and preparing to drop off a piece of artwork somewhere for a up coming exhibition.

A Walk in the Woods,
Gathering Inspiration,
quick video Here
Renewed spirit of creativity can simple be ignited with a walk in the woods for me, observing the colors, sounds, the wind and solitude to open up and clear thoughts.
I can see so much where I walk and the contrast of colors against the white snow is exciting.

Allowing myself to see the beauty in the raw and natural bits of life, is a strong wabi sabi attitude.

Check out the list below of classes and workshops coming up.

From myheart Heart  and with gratitude in single feather - Copy Spirit
thank you for all your support through the years.

Tack Down Tuesday

deertrack lg

#020419-A, "Deer Tracks " 6 x 12 collage on Wood panel ready to hang on you walls.

Materials Used: Wood panel, Gloss medium, sanded National Geographic paper with acrylics, morning photo’s printed on copy paper and coated, tea and gloss medium on tissue paper, India Ink mark made paper. Raffia, and Black Walnut leave stems with wax pastel crayons, sealed with a layer of UV satin varnished.

Meaning behind the art: I hadn’t been to the woods in many weeks. This morning opened an opportunity to go. Knowing the path would be so different then what we have around my home.  It’s always icy when there’s a melting period.  I glad I ware my hiking boots and walked the side of the path.  Evidence of so many creatures out there.  I was early enough to hear some raccoon’s fighting over something way up high in the cottonwood.  Something about walking in the woods, puts me in my humble state and one of know who I am.   White snow still out there in areas but a but dirty from the tree bark and any other natural debris that gets blown around. I saw lots of activity with the deer tracks and a few large prints, the weight of the prints were deeper than other others. I’m figuring a buck maybe.  As quickly as I could transferred images around from came to computer to print them out and work with them in this collage.
