Dance Community Mourns the Loss of Arnold Spohr
On Monday, April 12, 2010, Arnold Theodore Spohr, former Artistic Director of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, passed away at the age of 86. Arnold's lifetime passion for the art, the artist, and his beloved Royal Winnipeg Ballet leaves a legacy of artistic achievement and a spirit that will last for generations.
Arnold was a founding member of the Artistic Resource Committee of the Dancer Transition Resource Centre. "As in everything he did, he was never present in name only," says DTRC Founder, Joysanne Sidimus. "His contribution as Artistic Director, teacher, coach and mentor all bear the unique stamp of his passion. We will miss him, but his legacy is ever-present as a reminder of a deeply committed, passionate leader in our dance world."
