DTRC National Outreach Tour

Thank you to everyone who participated in the focus groups during our National Outreach Tour last month. Your insights and experiences will directly inform our program development and planning over the coming year.

If you were unable to attend the focus groups in your area, please feel free to contact your regional office or representative. We are always interested in hearing how we can best serve the transition needs of professional dancers.

Mark your calendars for this not-to-be missed career planning and networking event for emerging dancers.

Founder's Award Notice
The next Founder's Award deadline is July 1st, 2010. This award recognizes the need for time and reflection prior to embarking on a career change. We encourage dancers who are interested in applying for this $20,000 award to begin thinking about the application process.

 Skills & Retraining Grants
If you are interested in applying for a Skills or Retraining Grant, remember that you must notify the Centre of your intention before you enroll in a course and you must also submit a course description and details for review and approval. Please visit our website for more information on grants or call your regional office or representative.
Winnipeg Contemporary Dancers Perform in Support of the DTRC
Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers (WCD), Canada's oldest modern dance company, is coming to Toronto this November after more than a decade away! And, to show their support for the DTRC, they will be donating a portion of the proceeds from their performances to the Centre.

Don't miss this rare and exciting opportunity to see WCD perform, while supporting the DTRC!

On The Road marks WCD's return to the national scene with performance dates in Toronto, Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo and further dates in Thompson (MB) and Vancouver (BC). 
The 90 minute mixed repertoire show highlights the versatility and strength of WCD's dancers.
These performances will feature the work of WCD’s current Artistic Director and a member of the DTRC Board of Directors, Brent Lott, alongside works by WCD’s Founding Artistic Director and order of Canada recipient, Rachel Browne, and Fredericton’s Lesandra Dodson.
 

We expect tickets to go quickly. Please reserve your seats in advance by calling 416-967-1365.

The Artists' Health Centre presents:
Feldenkrais Method of Movement - Reducing Strain & Increasing Focus

With Karen Bowes-Sewell, GCFP

The Feldenkrais Method® is a gentle, whole body approach to moving which helps to enhance artistic practice and support healthier, pain-free activity. This clinic will explore verbally directed movement sequences focusing on freeing the back, neck and shoulders. This practical format is suitable for all disciplines and will focus on:

· Working with less effort
· Gentle self-care exercises
· Relationships between movement & creativity
