Ready all... ROW!

Fall is here - and Rainier Valley Rowing Year 2 has begun! RVR is busy providing access and opportunities in rowing to middle and high school students - and this year's class is taking full advantage of everything the sport has to offer on and off the water!

RVR athletes are practicing weekday afternoons at Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing Center - improving their technique, increasing their fitness, and building community with the rest of this year's Mt. Baker Junior Novice Class.       Boat over heads.JPG

Come see for yourself - we invite you to take a walk along Lake Washington Boulevard (near Stan Sayres Park) around 5:30pm on any weekday to watch the RVR rowers in action!

Can't make a weekday evening practice? Come support RVR at a weekend regatta - look for the blue Mt. Baker crowd.

 News from the Coach's Launch...

Just WHO are the RVR Athletes?

Meet the Year 2 Participants!

This year's class has students in schools from St. Therese (in Capitol Hill) all the way down to Kennedy (in Burien) but the athletes share a common community - the area around South Lake Washington. They bring much more than just their neighborhood to the boathouse though....

Reitrea is known as Deah to her friends.

Matt's hobbies are tennis and swimming.

Mary has a goal of owning her own business.

Mar'Quel loves Janet Jackson.

Kiaira started rowing this summer at the Lakeside Educational Enrichment Program (LEEP) with RVR Program Director Karla Landis.

Ian is a certified lifeguard.

Ghislaine says the most important things to her are her family (including big brother John) and her cats.

Diana's favorite part of rowing is "being in the water and being with people I know".
