Neighborhood Senior Center Opens in Third Ward

Seniors working in garden at third wardSeniors in Houston’s Third Ward have a new destination for healthy meals, fitness classes and a variety of educational and social activities.

Neighborhood Centers Inc. opened a Senior Center on April 1 in the City of Houston’s Third Ward Multi-Service Center. The new center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ready 2 Act! VideoARAMARK and Harbach-Ripley Neighborhood Center recently teamed up to host the 3rd annual Ready 2 Act! day for middle and high school students. ARAMARK employee volunteers helped students identify their strengths and learn how they can prepare now for post-high school education and career opportunities.

NCI Community Development Credit Union Introduces Online Services

Credit Union LogoMembers of the NCI Community Development Credit Union now can log on to www.nci-cdcu.org to check account balances, transfer funds between accounts and pay bills with the credit union’s new online banking service.

"Online banking is a convenient and secure tool our members can use to manage their accounts," said Randy Martinez, CEO of the credit union. "The best part about our 'virtual bank' is that it is open 24 hours a day."

Membership in the NCI Community Development Credit Union is open to all residents who live, work, worship or attend school in the zip codes of 77036, 77074 or 77081.  The credit union currently is located in the Alliance for Multicultural Community Services building at 6440 Hillcroft, Suite 102.

The credit union also offers ATMs at the Neighborhood Centers Inc. Central Services Office, 4500 Bissonnet; Ripley House, 4410 Navigation; and Cleveland-Ripley Neighborhood Center, 720 Fairmont Pkwy, Pasadena, TX.  For more information about the NCI Community Development Credit Union, call 832.239.8599 or visit the website.

July 20-24, 2009 – Renewable Leadership: How to Respond Well to Crisis after Crisis, Cape Cod Institute, North Eastham, Massachusetts.
