Ali Saberioon left his native Iran before his 18th birthday. He’s lived and traveled internationally and says from his perspective, there’s no place like Houston.
"The people of Houston are extremely different than every other place I’ve lived," Saberioon said recently from his Galleria office where he is President and CEO of Sabco Oil and Gas, an oil and gas production company. "They’re warm, they’re welcoming, and they come from all different backgrounds. They care about their society, about their culture, and about the environment. People take serious interest in helping others. You just don’t see that anywhere else."

Volunteer Houston
Richard Ornalez, a volunteer with Neighborhood Tax Centers, has been named one of the 2009 Mayor’s Volunteer Houston Award Winners. For the past 18 years, Ornalez has prepared taxes for free, primarily assisting Spanish speaking individuals at Ripley House. Read more.
Leadership in Action
Chevron and Neighborhood Centers Inc. received a joint Leadership in Action Award from Leadership Houston for the Khakis and Collars program that provides school uniforms for children in underserved neighborhoods. Read more.
Ready for Life
Care for Elders, Houston’s largest, most diverse and most experienced partnership focused on elder care issues, selected Joyce Jordan, Neighborhood Centers senior services coordinator as a recipient of its Ready for Life award. Read more.
CFO of the Year
Neighborhood Centers CFO Ray Chung recently was honored by the Houston Business Journal as a nominee for Best CFO of the Year in the Large Non-Profit category. The awards recognize financial professionals who “keep track of the American Dream.” Read more.
