December 2010's FOCUS Job Site Of The Month is sent to us by AnneTravis the owner of
Landview Landscaping Services . When Anne started Landview Landscaping, she wanted to
build a landscaping business that was different, as she told us, "We knew there was a better
way of doing it. I have always been astounded by the number of Landscaping contractors in the
Las Vegas Valley that just didn't show up for appointments, didn't return phone calls and didn't
back up their promises of a quality product or service". Ten very successful years later, Anne
and her team can say they succeded on all levels.

"The Howard Residence project was one of my favorites for a variety of reasons,
the foremost reason being the Howards are delightful people, the 2nd being
Tony Howard works in construction, so he is familiar with how the
process works. From the beginning the Howards were very much involved in the
design aspect of their project and went back and forth with our designer
over a period of several months. Once we had the design in place, we began to work.
The landscape was built in conjunction with their swimming pool."
Dramatic lighting effects were used to highlight key landscaping areas.
Here we see a firepit and a "Tiki" both accented using the FOCUS RXD-01-BAR

The Howards were very involved in each aspect of the construction of their yard,
which resulted in several meetings over the two months we installed their backyard.
Of course several changes were made along the way.
Believe it or not the lighting was not in the original design! When we sat
down to discuss lighting, the homeowners cut our original recommended number
of lights in half inorder to stay within budget. I advised Tony and Debbie that we should
stick with the original size of the transformers and not adjust those down, as I was sure
once we came in with the lights they would quickly be back up to the original number
of lights in our recommendation, and this way we would have sufficient transformer capacity
for whatever changes they may want to make as we went along.
When we first proposed the lights we came in at 30 path lights and 70 up lights,
they cut this in half to 15 path and 35 up lights.
At completion we were at 34 path lights and 54 up lights, and you can see the
results were dramatic. Also we were able to stay within budget by
using the FOCUS RX series.
The Howards are very happy they hired a landscape designer with
Anne's talent and experience at using lighting to bring their backyard to life!
