Are you in the Zone?
Availability is one of the 3 key parts of getting more wedge with category management. The other two are promotions and range.
Identifying the zone where sales are at their greatest and waste at an acceptable level is possible for each sku. Once identified and managed the result can be a dramatic increase in sales and decrease in waste.
To ensure you work as effectively as you can with supply chain team, you need to be in a position of knowledge. Through our experience of working with teams who tell supply chain "availability should be increased from 82% to 95% will drive sales" just won't cut it. This approach will often fall on deaf ears, annoy and often amplify any relationships ‘challenges'. The key to driving sales through availability is to achieve a balance with waste.
We help to achieve this by following a tried and tested process.

Through our approach to category management, we always achieve outstanding results in conjunction with the teams that we are working with. A category plan is a bit like using a personal trainer at the gym. A personal trainer has experience, can guide you to achieve more in less time and keeps you going. Rather than help people get fitter, we help companies to get fitter categories.

The A-Z of Category Management
Here's the start of our non-exhaustive A-Z of Category Management terms.
Heard a term but don't know what it means? Email us and we will explain
A - Availability, need we say more? Have you read or downloaded the article?
B - Benefits, ensure you calculate the ‘size of the prize' and that you are focused on delivering the biggest and best opportunities.
C - is for Consumer. These are the end users who consumer your product. They should not be confused with shoppers who purchase the product. Understand that each is different and consider targeting their needs separately.
D - Stands for Data Analysis. More analysis = better results ...Right? Wrong...Knowing what to analyse and where is the key. Jumping into data or ‘looking under every stone' without a clear objective will lose days even months.
