New One Hen Book Club Supports United We Serve White House Initiative
First Lady Michelle Obama, recently, kicked off the United We Serve: Let's Read. Let's Move program that encourages children to read 5 books this summer to prevent summer learning loss. One Hen, Inc, and Kids Can Press are proud to support this initiative with the One Hen Book Club. Though the summer is drawing to an end, The One Hen Book club is continuing as one of our core programs. As a librarian and educator, we encourage you to start a One Hen Book Club. Good Garden Launching
We will be launching the first part of The Good Garden enrichment program
this September with the website www.thegoodgarden.org and Maria's Classroom, a collection of lessons and activities that you can integrate into your teaching. The new enrichment program is based on the most
recent book by One Hen author Katie Smith Milway, The Good Garden: How One
Family Went from Hunger to Having Enough, which will be in stores and
available at www.onehen.org on September 1. The program aims to raise kids' awareness
about the global problem of food security and how they can participate in
resource sharing and sustainable agriculture to help avert food crises.
