NEW! Upcoming Fortress Release - Advanced Features

ImageThe following Fortress feature upgrades will be available to all customers at the end of November 2009!

    Fortress Memory Block Read/Write

The first feature is the ability to read and write blocks of data into the expanded memory of the Fortress dongle. In the last release in July of 2009, we increased the base memory available in the Fortress dongle to 5,000 bytes and included options to increase the available read/write memory to 22,000 or 55,000 bytes. Several clients have taken advantage of the large memory size to control product licensing or to store customer or application data. The most common feedback we received was the need for a function to read/write blocks of data to increase the speed and efficiency of the data management. With the new block read/write feature, you specify the size of the data block being passed and provide a pointer to the data and the API takes care of the rest. You can now read and write the entire 5,000 byte base memory block in less than 3 seconds!

    Executable Code on dongle

The second feature is the ability to execute code on the Fortress dongle. With the increased memory, you now have the ability to store about 10,000 lines of high level language code on the dongle and make calls through the KEYLOK API to execute functions you build. The core of the Fortress device is the Smart Card chip. The design of this integrated circuit chip provides a complete mini-computer platform, complete with processor, I/O controller, operating system, memory and storage. The security features are built into the chip’s operating system which has been designed to provide the highest levels of security currently available and is certified by international standards. All access to the files stored on the dongle are controlled by the chips operating system. The Smart Card solution is a complete paradigm shift. Firstly, international standards certify the security features of the device which was never available before from any dongle vendor. These features are something you can depend on. Secondly, you now have the ability to transfer executable code onto the device and have it run in a completely secure environment. The separation of code and hardware certification is a new and unique solution for software protection.

    Overview

KEYLOK Fortress is a mini-computer that runs in parallel to the main computer. It allows algorithms and functions of an application to be stored and then run on the USB key without ever being loaded into the main computer memory. All data is exchanged through the API. This structural flexibility provides an extremely secure environment and unlimited possibilities for the protection of an application or data.

The next KEYLOK release will be available by the end of November. This release includes:

  • Windows 7 Support – the install program is approved for Windows 7 for all KEYLOK products

  • Enhanced Remote Email Update – new functions enabling more efficient processing of remote update tasks and a new API function to process the update on the end-user machine. You are no longer dependent upon the KEYLOK end-user utility, you can write your own or embed it in your own application.

  • Networking enhancements and system updates – single session IP counting is now available.

  • General Linux/Mac support for Fortress

  • KEYLOK Flash Device

ImageKEYLOK is in the final testing phase of a flash storage device, providing you with all of the security features of the Fortress dongle along with mass storage. The mass storage can be used to distribute your application, provide portability options for your application or provide your customer with additional storage capabilities, eliminating the need for your customers to manage multiple devices. You will have the option of selecting 1, 4, 8 or 16GB of flash memory. We have had many requests for a device upon which a software developer can distribute its application and KEYLOK is very excited to offer the KEYLOK Flash dongle soon. (Prototype Pictured)
