"I am living well with HIV." 'Me Thabo was tested for HIV at Tšepong Clinic when she was pregnant with her second child. "For me, I did not want to have a sick child." Thabo was given navirapene, which dramatically cuts the chance of transferring the virus during birth. She now has two children who are HIV-free, for which she is very grateful. Tšepong reaches 10,000! A significant milestone was passed in the early months of this year at the Tšepong Clinic. As of March, more than 10,000 patients have enrolled for HIV/AIDS testing, counseling and treatment at the clinic since it opened in 2004. In addition to that, over 17,000 women, men and children have been seen at primary health care centres spread throughout the Leribe District. A message from Dr. Anne-Marie Dear Friends of Tšepong ... After all the work and excitement of getting to our goal of raising $1 million for the Tšepong Clinic in Lesotho last year (thanks to you!), we have taken some time to regroup and consider our next steps. Based on the success of the bracelets that hang on your wrists and the urgent and ongoing needs at the clinic, Masai for Africa changed into the Bracelet of Hope Campaign to provide ongoing support to people with HIV/AIDS in Lesotho. What your donations do at Tšepong
Your donation to Bracelet of Hope supports OHAfrica’s Tšepong Clinic.
Literally translated from Sesotho, it means "Place of Hope." Thanks to
your donations, this amazing place provides life-saving care and
antiretroviral (ARV) treatment to thousands of HIV/AIDS-infected people
in the district of Leribe, Lesotho--a nation in southern Africa. Here’s a breakdown of how donated funds are used ... |
